I am an experienced Phonics, Reading and English Tutor, offering a range of classes for EYFS, KS1 and KS2. I also offer classes, during the day, for children who are homeschooled.

I offer the following options for reading tuition:

One-to-one tuition (age 3 to 11 years)

Small group tuition (age 3 to 11 years)

Phonic Dots Play and Stay (age 2+)

Online Tuition (age 4 to 11 years)

As a highly experienced teacher, I know that learning takes when children being motivated, inspired and have a teacher they can relate to. That is one of the reasons children who come to my purpose built room thrive. I have over 20 years experience as a primary school teacher, tutor and reading recovery specialist and I use a variety of strategies to teach children, depending upon their preferred learning style. I always make time to discuss your child's strengths and areas for development and to assess them, so I can get to know them and 'what makes them tick'. There are many barriers to learning to read but my determination and expertise ensure those barriers are overcome. With my structured, imaginative and engaging approach, children make excellent progress and enjoy learning.

Phonic Dots

What to expect at Phonic Dots

At Phonic Dots we have lots of fun, while learning letter sounds. We all come together at the start of the session to sing songs, learn rhymes and play musical instruments . This part of the session incorporates Phase 1 Phonics, which helps children to tune into and discriminate between sounds made by musical instruments, body percussion and sounds in the environment.

Next, puppets help to introduce the letter of the week and recap other letters. Fun phonic games are used to encourage children to recognise the sounds letters make individually, and in words.

A fun craft activity follows, to further develop recognition of the letter, and the sound it makes.

Children enjoy 20 minutes of free play in the beautifully resourced room, before finishing the session with parachute games and a story.
